It's cold and has been an uncommonly cloudy January. I'm really looking forward to the sun coming up early enough for me to get up and run before the boys need to go to school.
I didn't want to run indoors, but I have a cold, so I went to the gym and ran on the track today. 3x400, 10 min. warm-up and cool-down. And core exercises! The one nice thing was wearing shorts and short sleeves.
Unfortunately, my cold really went downhill this afternoon and now I feel like crap--chills, aches, no taste, etc.

I am so sick of winter. It's not the cold, really. It's the dark. I'm tired as hell of not being able to run in the morning before everyone else is up. I hate that I have to cut into my precious little time on weekdays during the day when I can work. Finally we are headed in the right direction, but we can't get there soon enough for me. Then we'll get thrown back an hour for daylight savings.
Yesterday I finally did my core exercises for the first time in months. And today I'm hurting. I also think a cold is coming on--boo. I will run tomorrow and Monday (holiday) anyway.

Thur., 5/7, missed group run, T in Atlanta.
Fri., 5/8. Ran--3/30 + Cricket Hill 2x.
Sun., 5/10, Mother's Day. Ran 5/50 or so, stopwatch function stopped working. Ordered Garmin Forerunner 205.
Weekly total: 11
Tue., 5/12: turned off alarm clock, didn't run. Core exercises.
Wed., 5/13. "My first track workout"? At the gym, warmed up for 10 min., noticed paper signs taped to the wall around the track. Concluded that the track was pretty close to 400m. Ran 4x400 @ 2:20, 1600 @8:34.
Feeling tired and lazy. Probably need a break or a change, but I'm afraid I'll just get fat. Got an e-mail with $20 off Chicago Half, so I signed up. $10 off for CARA membership too.

Fleet Feet Historic Run: Run to Riverview. Slightly over 5 miles, approximately 2 hours. Interesting, informative, very cold and windy with blowing snow. Never felt warm enough because of frequent stops. Easy pace; on a nice day, would be a very easy run. Had considered running to and from the store to add mileage, but didn't because of snowy sidewalks--good call.
Weekly total: 11.5
Also, Saturday: took kids to gym again. Bike 10 min., elliptical 10 min., some core work--lazy!

PT exercises
Core workout
Tuesday we walked around the Field Museum, but that seemed too lame to be cross-training.
Today is the third day in a row of sub-0 wind chill temps, so I haven't been out. Had work/dinners last two nights, so no gym. I haven't yet admitted aloud that I'm getting tired of winter, because I don't actually mind running when it's above 10 or so. I'm just really tired of it being prohibitively cold. Saturday is (improbably) supposed to be 52 and rainy. A step in the right direction, I guess. Meanwhile, I need to run more often.
